PERSONAL FAVOURITES
Standouts from this house.
Musc Impérial
Very nice from the start, although the fig did not register clearly at first.
Trèfle Pur
A very enjoyable fresh-green scent, strongly reminiscent of Hermès Concentré d’Orange Verte.
Vétiver Fatal
A beautiful combination of fruits, iris and vetiver.
FULL HOUSE INDEX
Everything tried from Atelier Cologne.
Ambre Nue
Ambre Nue opened as a cologne-style take on a richer Arabian woody amber. Orange, amber and a dry resinous quality were clearest to me, with possible patchouli…
Bergamote Soleil
The opening smelled more like orange citrus than bergamot to me, with white florals over a musky, woody base and perhaps some vetiver. After a minute or so the bergamot…
Bois Blonds
An interesting combination of vetiver, woods and citrus with good projection. On another try it reminded me of Mugler Cologne with an added bitter facet, though it felt…
Cédrat Enivrant
Very green, zesty and lemony. Simple, but nice.
Cèdre Atlas
A fruity impression, possibly fig or cassis. An enjoyable scent overall.
Encens Jinhae
I picked up frankincense, rose and pink pepper first, with some fruitiness and possibly sandalwood. The drydown moved into a distinctly Middle Eastern style that…
Figuier Ardent
Dry fig and sweet tonka were the main impressions. I thought it was nice, but it leaned feminine to me and I preferred Musc Imperial.
Gold Leather
The opening had a sour character that made me think of davana or liquor, and I found it almost sickening. Despite the name, I did not perceive much leather compared…
Grand Néroli
A classic cologne style and a very nice scent. The drawback was performance: it seemed weak, especially compared with the cheaper Mugler Cologne. Side by side, Grand…
Jasmin Angélique
A jasmine-grandiflorum-style floral sat at the centre, with fruitiness and angelica around it, and the overall character leaned clearly feminine to me. On another…
Mandarine Glaciale
The opening combined citrus with a savoury spice impression, my guesses included caraway, cumin or coriander. Coriander became the dominant association for me, to the…
Mimosa Indigo
Sweet, powdery and white-floral, with an oriental twist that I first read as amber or wood. Saffron may have been responsible for some of that warmth. Leather was not…
Mistral Patchouli
Star anise dominated the first impression to the point that the fragrance felt short on character. A later wearing revealed orange, anise and perhaps cedar, which made…
Musc Impérial
Very nice from the start, although the fig did not register clearly at first.
Oolang Infini
I enjoyed the green-tea note, although the fragrance felt very light, possibly too light. I thought it would be interesting to compare with Creed Asian Green Tea. On a…
Orange Sanguine
The orange smelled very sweet to me, almost Fanta-like. I was not a big fan of that sugary quality, and the fragrance also leaned feminine to my nose.
Oud Saphir
A lighter cross between Tom Ford Oud Wood and Tuscan Leather. On another try the Tuscan Leather resemblance remained, but with more floral and fruity material and a…
Philtre Ceylan
I picked up citrus, especially bergamot and lemon, with possible vetiver in the background, plus amber and leather. I did not initially identify the cumin until…
Poivre Électrique
Pink and black pepper dominated so strongly that the fragrance almost made me want to cough. I thought there might also be frankincense and rose underneath, but the…
Pomelo Paradis
The grapefruit opening was nice, but it soon developed a medicinal, Lemsip-like quality. On a second try, I was less negative about it.
Rendez-Vous
This started as a pleasant fresh floral, possibly rose, and leaned feminine to me. As it developed, a much more obvious powdery, lipstick-like iris character emerged.
Rose Anonyme
The opening combined citrus, rose and labdanum and initially smelled good, but I found it became boring fairly quickly. Later it settled into a familiar oriental…
Santal Carmin
Spicy citrus and sandalwood opened with a strong saffron note. As it developed, the sandalwood became sweeter, creamier and more obviously spiced. The main reservation…
Silver Iris
Slightly fruity, floral and powdery, with a feminine character. On another impression, the iris took on the clearest lipstick association. I did not find it especially…
Sous le toit de Paris
The opening was fairly unremarkable, but the fragrance improved noticeably as it dried down. A sweet almond-or-cherry impression emerged and pushed it somewhat feminine…
Sud Magnolia
White florals, musk and rose were the main impressions. It leaned strongly feminine, with a floral-musky character that reminded me of a classic maternal perfume.
Tobacco Nuit
An oud-like facet, amber, sandalwood, tobacco, spices and incense combined into something very enjoyable. There was also a clear Amouage association, especially Memoir…
Trèfle Pur
A very enjoyable fresh-green scent, strongly reminiscent of Hermès Concentré d’Orange Verte.
Vanille Insensée
A slight citrus edge sat over vanilla and chocolate, and at first the combination felt fairly ordinary to me. As it developed, I started thinking of one aspect of Dior…
Vétiver Fatal
A beautiful combination of fruits, iris and vetiver.
