PERSONAL FAVOURITES
Standouts from this house.
Fou d’Absinthe
Fresh, green and summery, with a slight peppery quality, a touch of lavender and possibly mint. Cedar was also clear to me. The fragrance read strongly masculine and…
FULL HOUSE INDEX
Everything tried from L'Artisan Parfumeur.
Al Oudh
Rose, an oud impression, animalic notes and cumin were the main impressions, and the spice level felt excessive to me. The heart became sweeter and honeyed. The overall…
Batucada
Fruity and floral, with a prominent ylang-ylang impression. I found it interesting, but it leaned too feminine for me to imagine wearing.
Caligna
Aquatic saltiness came first, joined by a tea impression and a feminine floral facet that I took for ylang-ylang or something similar. Violet became much clearer once I…
Cœur de Vétiver Sacré
The opening combined bitter orange, davana and sour fruit. Underneath was a woody structure with a lot of frankincense essential-oil character, although the resinous…
Fou d’Absinthe
Fresh, green and summery, with a slight peppery quality, a touch of lavender and possibly mint. Cedar was also clear to me. The fragrance read strongly masculine and…
L’Eau de L’Artisan
A classic cologne with unusually strong herbal notes.
Méchant Loup
I expected something more gourmand, but instead got a strange contrast between liquorice and nuts, with what I recognised as Bertrand Duchaufour’s incense signature…
Safran Troublant
Sweetness sat on top of leathery, animalic material that reminded me somewhat of Oud Ispahan. The spice was soft rather than aggressive, and the whole thing almost…
Tea for Two
This had the strongest tea note I had smelled at the time, very much like loose-leaf black tea, with an Earl Grey-like aspect that probably came from the combination of…
Timbuktu
Incense, resins, spice and leather were all present, but myrrh dominated the impression for me.
