Baume du Doge

Eau d'Italie

Incense, cinnamon and sweet resin gave it a Duchaufour/Amouage character, with a caramelised burnt-frankincense gourmand twist.

ABOUT THE FRAGRANCE

Reference sources describe Baume du Doge as a warm spicy composition opening with cinnamon, cardamom and bergamot, moving through myrrh, cedar, olibanum and saffron before a benzoin, vanilla and vetiver base.

OUR REVIEW

Firsthand review

Bertrand Duchaufour’s style felt immediately recognisable to me: an incense-heavy structure with something of an Amouage character. What set it apart was a sweet, spicy cinnamon facet that initially felt almost excessive.

Caramelised sweetness and a slightly burnt-resin or burnt-frankincense impression appeared later, with something gourmand, possibly vanilla, underneath. The overall effect reminded me of Epic or Jubilation 25.
