ABOUT THE FRAGRANCE
Fate Man is a spicy, resinous Amouage fragrance released in 2013. Reference note listings combine saffron and other spices with immortelle, frankincense, labdanum and rose, then cedar, sandalwood, musk and tonka bean.
OUR TAKE
Fate started with amber, citrus and resins and was pleasant enough, but the spice level kept building until it became too much for me. The labdanum drydown was much better.
On another wearing I picked up caraway, spices, frankincense and amber. I suspected an immortelle facet might have been responsible for the part I disliked.
