Fougère Royale

Houbigant

ABOUT THE FRAGRANCE

Fougère Royale is Houbigant’s modern interpretation of its landmark 1882 fougère, opening with bergamot, lavender and Mediterranean herbs before floral-spicy notes give way to moss, patchouli, tonka and woody amber facets.

OUR TAKE

3/5

The opening was fresh and slightly sour, with good projection and patchouli in the background. It was not a patchouli bomb, but the patchouli still gave the fragrance a mature masculine feel that did not quite suit me.

As it developed, the resinous amber-and-patchouli character became clearer. I could imagine appreciating this style more in my older years.
