What it is
Lavandin is Lavandula × intermedia, the hybrid between Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula latifolia.
What to notice
Lavandin can suggest:
- lavender-like floral aroma
- brisk herbal freshness
- camphoraceous lift
- dry stems
- a stronger, more expansive aromatic character
Lavandin versus lavender
Lavandin belongs firmly to the lavender family but should not be collapsed into Lavender when a source names it explicitly. It often reads sharper and more camphoraceous than fine lavender.
In fragrance
An explicit lavandin note maps here. Generic lavender maps to Lavender unless the source gives the hybrid identity.
